1. Introduction

The data base is modular, consisting of fourteen sections, each covering a different topic. These topics are listed down the left hand side.

This guide explains what information is in each section, and where it can be found. To access the Excel data files for a topic, click on the entry in the list. This will take you to a more detailed list of Excel Workbooks. Thus if you click on ‘Vehicles’, it will link to section 2. From there, click on one of the links to the workbooks. That will take you to the Excel file. Along the bottom of the file are the list of charts and data sheets (all data sheets start with ‘Sheet’). Open the sheet or chart in which you are interested. This can then be copied and used for further analysis.

All data are for Great Britain, unless specifically labelled otherwise.
