10. EMISSIONS FROM TRANSPORT
The Excel Workbook on emissions from transport contains three data sheets. These are:
- Sheet non-CO2 emissions;
- Sheet CO2 emissions; and
- Sheet Emission limits.
Contents of the data sheets are as follows
Sheet non-CO2 emissions
Block A.5 to AL.19 gives the tonnage of oxides of nitrogen emitted by the different modes of domestic transport since 1970.
Blocks A.22 to AL.35, A.39 to AL.53, A.63 to AL.76, A.80 to AL.93 and A.98 to AL.112 give similar data for carbon monoxide, non-methane volatile organic compounds, methane, lead and PM10 particulate matter, respectively. All this information is from the United Kingdom UNECE Emission Estimates to 2005, National Atmospheric Emissions Inventories, AEA Technology.
Block A.120 to P.258 gives emissions of carbon monoxide, oxides of nitrogen, particulates (PM10), benzene, 1,3-butadiene, lead and sulphur dioxide from transport by individual modes, since 1992. These data are from Transport Statistics GB 2004 to 2008 Table 3.9. The figures are close to those given above, but not identical. This is not surprising, as the estimation models are being continuously improved, and the estimates revised.
Block A.266 to BF.286 gives projections, produced in 2000, of emissions of oxides of nitrogen and particulate matter by road transport.
Sheet CO2 emission
Block A.8 to AL.46 gives the full list of CO2 from different sectors of the economy since 1970. These data are from the United Kingdom UNECE Emission Estimates to 2005, National Atmospheric Emissions Inventories, AEA Technology.
Block A.50 to AL.57 gives the same data, with the detailed sectors grouped into five major sectors. There are public electricity and heat Production, industry, households, services and other, and transport, with a sub-sector of road transport.
Block A.74 to AL.97 gives the carbon dioxide emissions from the domestic transport modes, non-transport sources and total, plus the non-inventory emissions from international aviation and shipping, for 1970 to 2006. These data are from the National Atmospheric Emissions Inventories plus Transport Statistics GB 2007 & 2005 Tables 3.8.
Block A.104 to Z.123 gives the historical record of carbon dioxide emissions from 1980 to 2006 and a forecast of emissions made in 1995 and covering the period 1995 to 2030.
Sheet Emission limits
Block A.5 to I.37 gives the emission limits for petrol and diesel passenger cars, and heavy goods vehicles, to EURO I, II, III, IV, V and VI standards for cars and, for HGVs, EURO I to V standards.
Block A.48 to J.57 give the EU noise limit standards for new vehicles since 1972.
