This section contains Excel Workbooks on the vehicle stock (vehicles currently in use), vehicles first registered (including vehicles manufactured and vehicles imported), and age of vehicles. The specific Workbooks are:
11.1 Household spending
This Excel Workbook 'Household spending' contains seven data sheets. These are:
- Sheet Family spending 2001-02;
- Sheet Family spending 2005-06;
- Sheet Family spending 2007;
- Sheet HH expenditure transport;
- Sheet User spending;
- Sheet Cost of travel; and
- Sheet HH spend transport EU.

Sheet Family spending 2001-02
This reproduces material from the 2001-02 Expenditure and Food Survey.
Block A.5 to L.37 gives the weekly spending per household on 12 categories of goods and services, separately for each income decile group, and for the whole population, from Table 1.1 of Family Spending 2001-02. This block also gives details of the number of persons and households in the sample.
Block A.45 to L.68 gives details of the weekly spending per household on transport, separately for each income decile group, and for the whole population, from Table 1.3 of Family Spending 2001-02.
Block A.75 to L.81 gives car ownership per household separately for each income decile group, and for the whole population, from Table 9.5 of Family Spending 2001-02.
Sheet Family spending 2005-06
This reproduces material from the 2005-06 Expenditure and Food Survey.
Block A.5 to L.37 gives the weekly spending per household on 12 categories of goods and services, separately for each income decile group, and for the whole population, from Table A.8 of Family Spending 2005-06. This block also gives details of the number of persons and households in the sample.

Block B.27 to Y.32 gives expenditure in several larger categories. Block B.41 to Y.44 gives the numbers of households in Britain, from various sources.
Block A.53 to L.74 gives household expenditure based on COICOP classification at 2007 prices for the years 2001-02 to 2007, from Table 4.3 of Family spending 2007.
Block B.92 to V.96 gives household expenditure on travel at 2007 prices for the years 1984 to 2007, from Table 4.1 of Family spending 2007. Block B.98 to Y.100 gives the numbers of households in Britain, from various sources.
Block A.110 to V.168 gives details of household expenditure on travel at current prices for the years 1970 to 2007, from Transport Statistics GB 1970-80 Tab 1.16, 1979-89 Tab 1.14, 1997 Tab 1.16 and 2006 and 2008 Tab 1.13.
Block A.202 to X.225 gives the derived national household spending total on transport at 2007 prices for the years 1984 to 2007, based on Table 4.1 of Family Spending 2007.

Sheet Cost of travel
Block A.7 to R.78 gives the total spending on motoring, rail fares and bus and coach fares for 1980 to 2006-07, and the derived cost per passenger kilometre and, for buses, the cost per journey.
