12. REGIONAL DATA;
The Excel Workbook 'Regional data' contains six data sheets. These are:
- Sheet roads;
- Sheet vehicles;
- Sheet traffic;
- Sheet Casualties 1990-2007;
- Sheet Casualty rates 2004-7; and
- Sheet Economics.
Contents of the data sheets are as follows
Sheet roads
Block A.6 to Z.23 gives the lengths of roads in 2005 by regions and nations, for various classes of road. This includes data for Northern Ireland. Block S.3 to AI.23 gives corresponding data for 2006, and AK.6 to BA.23 for 2007.
Block A.56 to AV.70 gives the density of roads per sq. km in 2005, 2006 and 2007 by regions and nations.
Sheet vehicles
Block A.9 to AB.30 gives the number of cars currently registered by regions and nations 1994 to 2008, the percentage of company cars and the number of cars first registered 1996 to 2007. Block AQ.9 to AZ.30 gives the cars per 1000 persons.
Block A.42 to AK.58 gives the percentage of households with no, one, or two and more cars between 1989 and 2007.
Block A.66 toT.75 gives the percentages of households with no, one or two plus cars by type of area, for 2005 to 2006.
Block A.83 to T.109 gives the number of cars in all taxation categories (vehicles body type cars) for 1994 to 2005, the cars per 1000 persons, and for 2004, 2005 and 2006, the average age of cars and the percentage first registered in that year. There are slightly more cars than when the count is limited to cars in the private and Light Goods tax category.
Sheet traffic
Block A.4 to J.19 gives the average daily flow of traffic for various classes of road for regions and nations in 2000. Blocks P.4 to Y.19, AE.4 to AN.19, AT.4 to BC.19 and BI.4 to BU.19 give data for 2004 to 2007.
Block A.50 to N.67 gives the average traffic flows (vehicles per day) traffic for various classes of road for regions and nations in 2000. Block P.45 to AC.62 gives similar data for 2004, AE.50 to AR.67 for 2005, AT.50 to BG.67 for 2006 and BI.50 to BS.67 for 2007.
Block A.76 to Q.104 gives the maximum and average daily traffic flows on various links of the English motorway network, and major motorways in Wales and Scotland, for the period 2001 to 2006.
Sheet Casualties 1990-2007
Block A.3 to P.64 gives the numbers of casualties killed, killed and seriously injured, and all severities including fatal, from 1990 to 2007 for regions and nations.
Block AI.3 to AX.64 gives the derived casualty rates per 100,000 population from 1990 to 2007 for regions and nations.
Block A.74 to M.113 gives the number of car occupants killed or seriously ijured (KSI casualties) by region, nation and former metropolitan county (FMC) 1990 to 2007. Block P.74 to AB.113 gives similar figures for motorcycle users, AE.74 to AQ.113 for pedal cyclists and AT.74 to BF.113 for all road users.
Block A.126 to BF.165 gives similar figures for casualties of all severities.
Sheet Casualty rates 2004-7
Block A.6 to J.60 gives the numbers of casualties killed, killed and seriously injured, and all severities including fatal, in 2004 for regions and nations by class of road, from Road Accidents GB 2004 Table 48. Block O.6 to X.60 gives the corresponding data for 2005, AC.6 to AL.60 for 2006 and AQ.6 to AZ.60 for 2007.
Block A.69 to F.103 gives the numbers of casualties by road user type and severity for 2004 for England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and the United Kingdom, from Road Accidents GB 2005 Table 49. Block O.69 to T.105 gives the corresponding data for 2005, AC.69 to AH.103 for 2006 and AQ.69 to AV.103 for 2007
Block A.114 to BC.128 gives the numbers of fatal, serious and slight casualties by rural and urban areas for 2004 to 2007.
Block A.132 to AY.152 gives the numbers of casualties of all severities by type of road user for 2004 to 2007.
Block A.161 to AY.173 gives the casualty rate per 100,000 population by type of road user for English regions 2004 to 2007.
Block A.186 to AY.198 gives the casualty rate per distance travelled, all severities, by type of road user for English regions 2004 to 2007, and block A.209 to AY.221 the corresponding rates for KSI casualties.
Sheet Economics
Block A.5 to L.18 gives the public spend on roads in England in 2003/04 from Regional Trends 2006 Table 10.10. A.32 to L.45, A.56 to L.69 and A.75 to L.88 give corresponding data for 2004/05 and 2006/07 from Transport Statistics GB 2006 to 2008 Table 7.13.
Table AA.1 to AO.50 gives a collection of economic and employment statistics from Regional Trends 2006 Table 2.3 and The Times 11 October 2007.
