13. LOCAL AUTHORITY DATA
This section contains five Excel Workbooks containing data for local authority areas. The specific Workbooks are:
13.6 Vehicles currently registered
The Excel Workbook ' Vehicles currently registered' contains four data sheets. These are:-
- Sheet cars 1998;
- Sheet vehicles 2005;
- Sheet vehicles 2006;
- Sheet vehicles 2007; and
- Sheet age of cars.
Contents of the data sheets are as follows
Sheet cars 1998
Block A.4 to G.166 gives the population, number of cars, percentage of cars registered as company owned, and the derived number of cars per 1000 persons and the derived number of cars per 1000 persons not company owned, for 1998 for English counties and unitary authorities and for unitary authorities in Wales and Scotland. These data come from Regional Trends No 34 1999, Tables 14.1, 15.1 and 16.1, plus special tabulations from DETR.
Block J.6 to Z.96 give the percentage company cars, cars per 1000 persons, population density and non-company cars per 1000 persons for local authorities categorised as 'urban' (population density 800+ persons per sq. km.), 'mixed' (population density 400 - 799 persons per sq. km.) and 'rural' (population density less than 400 persons per sq. km.)
Sheet Vehicles 2005
Block A.7 to K.178 gives the number of cars taxed as PLG, other PLG vehicles (light vans), motorcycles and mopeds, buses, goods vehicles and 'special vehicles group' for 2005, population for 2004, cars per 1000 population, percentage company cars and derived non-company cars per 1000 population, for counties and unitary authorities in England and unitary authorities in Wales and Scotland.
Block A.181 to I.351 give the numbers of other and tax exempt vehicles, and the total numbers of cars in all tax categories, for the same local authorities. These data are from DfT Vehicle Licensing Statistics 2005 Table 10.
Block N.14 to Q.592 gives the population 2004 and area of counties, districts, unitary authorities and boroughs in England, unitary authorities in Wales and Scotland, and unitary districts in Northern Ireland (grouped into four regions).
Sheet Vehicles 2006
Block A.5 to I.175 gives the number of cars (however taxed), light goods vehicles, motorcycles, buses, heavy goods vehicles, agricultural vehicles and other vehicles for 2006, for counties and unitary authorities in England and unitary authorities in Wales and Scotland. This is from DfT Vehicle Licensing Statistics 2006 (Body type) Table 1.18.
Sheet Vehicles 2007
Block A.5 to H.174 gives the number of cars (however taxed), light goods vehicles, motorcycles, buses, heavy goods vehicles, agricultural vehicles and other vehicles for 2006, for counties and unitary authorities in England and unitary authorities in Wales and Scotland. This is from DfT Vehicle Licensing Statistics 2007 Table 6.
Sheet age of cars
Block A.5 to O.79 gives the numbers of cars licensed in 1996 and 2006, the number of new registrations in 2006, the number of cars per 1000 population in 2006, and the average ages of cars in 1996, 2001 and 2006, for counties and unitary authorities in England and the nations of Wales and Scotland. This is from DfT Vehicle Licensing Statistics 2006 (by body type) Table 1.18, with ages in 2001 from DfT Vehicle Licensing Statistics 2001 Table 12 (strictly, age of vehicles, but it appears to mean cars and possibly vans).
