14. INTERNATIONAL COMPARISONS

This section contains seven Excel Workbooks containing data for the EU 25 nations, plus USA, Canada, Japan, Australia, Russia, India, China and Brazil. The specific Workbooks are:

The Excel Workbook 'Area, population, GDP' contains two data sheets. These are:

  • Sheet area, GDP; and
  • Sheet population.

Contents of the data sheets are as follows

Sheet area, GDP

Block A.7 to V.43 gives the area, population in 2003, 2006 and 2007, total GDP in 2003, 2005 and 2006, and GDP per head relative to the EU 25 for the years 1995 to 2006, for the EU 25 states, accession states and associated states, from EU Energy and Transport in Figures 2007, 2006 and 2004 Table 1.1.

Block Y.8 to AG.28 gives population, area, GDP and trade statistics for EU 25, USA, Japan, China and Russia from EU Energy and Transport in Figures 2006 Table 1.7, and AI.8 to AP.28 corresponding data from EU Energy and Transport in Figures 2007 Table 1.7.

Block A.56 to Y.71 gives various estimates of GDP per head in Euro and $US for a selection of countries for the period 1990 to 2006, from UN, World Bank and EU sources.

Block A.77 to D.113 give the EU standard codes for countries.

 

Sheet population

Block A.7 to AM.44 gives population from 1970 to 2007 for the EU 25 states, accession states and associated states, from EU Energy and Transport in Figures 2006 Table 1.1.

Block A.59 to R.76 gives population since 1950 and projected population to 2030 for a selection of countries from the UN World Urbanization Prospects, 2003 Revision.

Block A.82 to R.99 gives the population of a selection of countries from 1960 to 2007.

Block A.105 to P.114 gives the total population of U.S.A. from 1980 to 2006, plus the age distribution of the population, from US National Transportation Statistics 2007 Table A.  Block R.105 to X.113 gives the projected population of USA to 2050.

Block A.122 to D.209 gives the Japanese population, total, male and female, from 1920 to 2006, from Japan Statistics Yearbook 2007 Table 2-1.

Block F.122 to R.143 gives the predicted population of Japan from 2005 to 2100, total, males and females, child, adult and elderly, from Japan Statistics Yearbook 2006 Table 2-2.

Block V.122 to Y.172 gives the population and number of households for Canada from 1961, with a projection to 2026

Block G.155 to P.184 gives the population of China 1978-2006, from the China Statistics Yearbook 2007 Table 4-1.
