14. INTERNATIONAL COMPARISONS
This section contains seven Excel Workbooks containing data for the EU 25 nations, plus USA, Canada, Japan, Australia, Russia, India, China and Brazil. The specific Workbooks are:
14.3 Casualties int
The Excel Workbook 'Casualties int' contains four data sheets. These are:
- Sheet road fatalities;
- Sheet fatalities by user type; and
- Sheet fatality rates by age
Contents of the data sheets are as follows
Sheet road fatalities
Block A.6 to N.27 gives the fatalities for all road users in various countries since 1960.
Block A.35 to AQ.52 repeats the table of fatalities, arranged for plotting, and also gives the fatality rates per million population.
Block A.60 to N.101 gives the total vehicle stock and the fatalities per vehicle.
Block A.108 to E.146 ranks a number of countries in terms of fatalities per million population in 2006.
Sheet Fatalities by user type
Block A.5 to O.26 give fatalities for all road users since 1960 for a number of countries. Blocks A.31 to O.50 give fatalities for pedestrians since 1960 for a number of countries, A.56 to O.76 pedal cyclists, A.82 to O.101 motor cyclists, A.107 to O.126 vehicle occupants, A.131 to O.149 car occupants, A.154 to O.172 bus occupants, A.177 to O.195 truck occupants, and A.200 to O.218 other motor vehicle occupants.
Block A.223 to O.243 gives data on population since 1960 and block A.251 to O.270 traffic, all motor vehicles.
Block AA.5 to AO.148 gives the deaths per million population for the more significant road user groups.
Sheet fatality rates by age
This sheet provides data from the US NHTSA FARS (Fatal Accident Recording System) on the fatality rates for pedestrians by age group for the years 1994-2007.
