6. ACCIDENTS AND CASUALTIES
This section contains six Excel Workbooks. These are:
6.3 Casualties by age
This Excel Workbook contains nine data sheets. These are:
- Sheet Fatalities;
- Sheet Fatality rate;
- Sheet KSI M&F;
- Sheet KSI rate;
- Sheet all severities;
- Sheet all severity rates;
- Sheet user types 2005 to 2007;
- Sheet age in detail 2005 & 2006;
- Sheet Fragility
Contents of the data sheets are as follows
Sheet Fatalities
Block A.4 to T.165 gives the fatalities by road user type and age group for 1975 to 2007. The totals for all ages are larger than the sums of the age groups, because of accident reports from which the age of the casualties were omitted. Note that the age groups for children changed between 1990 and 1995, and for 1990 and earlier years the groups 5 to 9, 10 to 15 and 70+ are given below the main table.
These data are from Road Accidents GB 2005 to 2007 Table 30a; RAGB 1985 to 2004 Table 29 or 29a; RAGB 1980 Table 22; RAGB 1975 Table 25.
Block A.209 to T.357 gives various fatality rates derived from the fatality data.
Sheet Fatality rate
Block A.5 to N.138 gives the fatality rates per population by road user type and age group for 1995 to 2007. Block A.118 to N.130 gives the population by age group for 1995 to 2007.
These data are from Road Accidents GB 2005 to 2007 Table 31 and Table 30 of RAGB 1995 to 2004.
Sheet KSI M&F
Block A.4 to W.89 gives the male casualties killed and seriously injured (KSI) for some road user types and some age groups for 1975 to 2007. Block Z.4 to AV.89 gives the corresponding female for 1975 to 2007. These data are from Road Accidents GB 1997 Table 6a and RAGB 2005 and 2007 Table 7a.
Block A.103 to X.287 gives the casualties (persons) killed and seriously injured (KSI) for the full set of road user types and age groups for 1975 to 2007. These data are from Road Accidents GB 2005 to 2007 Table 30a; RAGB 1985 to 2004 Table 29 or 29a; RAGB 1980 Table 22; RAGB 1975 Table 25.
Sheet KSI rate
Block A.5 to N.138 gives the KSI rates per population by road user type and age group for 1995 to 2007. Block Q.5 to AD.138 gives the serious injury rates per population by road user type and age group for 1995 to 2007, obtained by subtracting the fatality rate from the KSI rate.
These data are from Road Accidents GB 2005 to 2007 Table 31 and Table 30 of RAGB 1995 to 2004.
Sheet all severities
Block A.5 to W.213 gives the casualties with all severities of injury (including fatal) by road user type and age group for 1975 to 2007.
Sheet all severity rate
Block A.5 to N.124 gives the rates for casualties of all severities (including fatalities) by road user type and age group for 1995 to 2007. Block Q.5 to AD.124 gives the slight injury rates per population by road user type and age group for 1995 to 2007, obtained by subtracting the fatality rate from the KSI rate.
These data are from Road Accidents GB 2005 to 2007 Table 31 and Table 30 of RAGB 1995 to 2004.
Sheet user types 2005 to 2007
Block A.4 to N.72 reproduces Table 30a from Road Accidents GB 2005, which gives the number of casualties by age and road user type for 2005; block A.86 to N.157 gives similar data for 2006, and block A.194 to N.274 data for 2007.
Sheet age in detail 2005 & 2006
Block A.4 to M.68 gives the number of casualties in 2005 listed by each year of age from 0 to 24, then 5 year age bands, separately for fatal, KSI and all severity injuries, for pedestrians, pedal cyclists, car occupants and all road users. Block P.4 to AE.68 gives similar data for 2006.
Block P.76 to V.146 gives data on the number of casualties as pedestrians, car occupants and pedal cyclists on journeys to school in 2005.
Sheet fragility
Block A.5 to AR.58 gives the numbers of fatalities and casualties of all severity for pedestrians, car drivers and users of powered 2 wheelers, by age group, for the period 1980 or 1985 to 2007, plus the derived percentages of casualties who die.
Block BI.5 to BL.36 gives the numbers of fatalities and casualties of all severity for male and female pedestrians separately, by age group, for 1975 and 1980.
