This section contains six Excel Workbooks. These are:
6.4 Casualties by road class
This Excel Workbook contains two data sheets. These are:
- Sheet casualty numbers; and
- Sheet vehicle involvement.
Contents of the data sheets are as follows
Sheet casualty numbers
Block A.4 to AC.71 gives the numbers of casualties by severity and by road class for the period 1980 to 2007. This is from Road Accidents GB 2005 to 2007 Table 5c; 1997 Table 4c; 1990 and 1980 Table 4.
Sheet vehicle involvement
Block A.6 to I.20 gives the casualties of all severities involving all motor vehicles by road class for the period 1990 to 2007, and block A.26 to I.40 gives the corresponding fatal casualties by road class. Block L.6 to Q.40 gives the casualty rate per vehicle kilometre.
Block A.46 to I.60 gives the casualties of all severities involving cars by road class for the period 1990 to 2007, and block A.66 to I.80 gives the corresponding fatal casualties by road class. Block L.46 to Q.80 gives the casualty rate per vehicle kilometre for casualties involving cars, and block T.46 to AB.80 gives the percentages of casualties in which cars are involved.
Block A.86 to I.100 gives the casualties of all severities involving Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs) by road class for the period 1990 to 2007, and block A.106 to I.120 gives the corresponding fatal casualties by road class. Block L.86 to Q.120 gives the casualty rate per vehicle kilometre for casualties involving HGVs, and block T.86 to AB.120 gives the percentages of casualties in which HGVs are involved.
Block A.124 to AE.139 gives the traffic flows (billion vehicle km) used to calculate the casualty rates for the various types of vehicle and class of road.
